World Championship of Russian Language for Foreigners 2025

About us
We are happy to invite all those in love with the Russian Language – even though living abroad – to join one of the most exciting events, the World Championship of Russian Language for Foreigners 2025!
This is going to be a great chance for youngsters trying to master Russian to put their knowledge to a test and lock horns seeking to win the World Champion title. No History tests – only contests designed as quizzes, debate, blitz-games and much more.
This year the contestants will be divided based on the geographic location principle as follows: Near Abroad countries; Asia; Africa; America, and Europe. This is aimed at making sure the selection for the Super Final will be as honest and balanced as we can make it. Read more about participation conditions.
The participation is completely free – all you need is assemble a team and get registered on the website!
About teams
Team members
Who: foreign nationals residing beyond Russia and sharing a single geographic location (city, district, area, country, etc.), who can easily get together to try and complete the respective rounds within the Championship, and who have a command of Russian no lower than at A2 Level (subject to the Russian Official Certification System for Russian as a foreign language).
Age: 16-22.
Number of persons per team: 5.
Responsibilities: join the Championship and take the tests offered.

We will offer a master to tell the coaches more about the tests, modes of competing, as well as we will offer certain recommendations as to how to be better prepared.
Coach
Who: a teacher or a mentor who will accompany the team.
Age: above 21.
Number of persons: 1.
Responsibilities: accompany the team and help them prepare better for the contest.
Age: above 21.

This year the fans will enjoy online-broadcasts, online votes, flash mobs and various contests.

Who: foreign nationals willing to support the team.
AWARDS
For each member of the team winning Places 1, 2, 3:
- Personal winner’s certificate;
- Special awards (memorabilia).
For each member of a team advancing to the division final:
- trip to Russia to join the final contest;
- culture & entertainment program;
- Championship medal.
For each member of the Super Final winner-team:
- The title of the World Champion of Russian Language for Foreigners 2025;
- Special prizes.

F.A.Q.
Fill out the form in the Registration section – click Application for Teams. The form must be completed by the coach, just a single form for the entire team. Please indicate all the required details concerning both yourself and each team member. Please make sure all the details are correct.
Registration, master-classes for coaches, the qualifications and the drawing procedure will be held online.
The qualifying stage, 1/16, 1/8 and 1/4 finals, semi-finals and third-place playoff will be held remotely at the academic institutions of the involved teams, in Centers for Open Education, as well as on other foreign platforms.
The Final and the Super Final will be held in Russia, offline.

All the expenses related to the trip, accommodation and catering for the finalist-teams and their coaches will be covered by the organizers.
According to our rules, holders of the Russian nationality cannot join the Championship.
For all the team members, including minor ones, it is the coach (who has respective legal grounds) who offers the personal data processing consent.
